What are hives?
Hives are a skin condition that cause itchy skin with red, swollen welts. Swelling can also occur due to hives under the surface of the skin. Triggers can include food, medications, pet dander, pollen, latex, insect stings, cold, heat, exercise, sun exposure, and infections. A trigger is not identified in many cases of hives. Your allergist will decide if allergy testing is needed based on your symptoms.
