Pulmonary function testing (PFT) is a breathing test that is used to diagnose and monitor
asthma
and other respiratory conditions. In certain situations pulmonary function testing will be performed before and after an albuterol inhaler or nebulizer treatment to determine if your lungs respond to the treatment.
Exercise challenge testing may be performed to evaluate for exercise induced bronchospasm or exercise induced asthma. Pulmonary function testing will be performed before and after exercise to determine if your lung function changes after exercise.
